Wisconsin Medical Doctor Standard Renewal Requirements: Medical Doctors in Wisconsin must renew their license biennially by October 31 of each odd-numbered year, completing 30 hours of AMA or AOA Category 1 CME during the two-year cycle. Among these, 2 hours must be focused on responsible opioid or controlled substance prescribing if the physician holds prescribing authority. The CME is flexible regarding subject areas outside the opioid prescribing requirement, and no specific live/in-person minimum hours are mandated. The Department of Safety and Professional Services supports CME tracking and audits through CE Broker.
