Georgia Medical Doctor Standard Renewal Requirements: Georgia MDs renew every two years by the last day of their birth month and must complete 40 hours of Board-approved CME per cycle. Required topics include a one-time 3-hour course in controlled-substance prescribing for DEA prescribers and a one-time 2-hour course on professional boundaries/sexual misconduct, both of which count toward the 40 hours. Physicians whose practice is ≥50% opioid pain management must complete 20 hours in pain or palliative medicine biennially (also counts toward the 40).
