Additional information
  • Wisconsin Medical Doctor Standard Renewal Requirements: Medical Doctors in Wisconsin must renew their license biennially by October 31 of each odd-numbered year, completing 30 hours of AMA or AOA Category 1 CME during the two-year cycle. Among these, 2 hours must be focused on responsible opioid or controlled substance prescribing if the physician holds prescribing authority. The CME is flexible regarding subject areas outside the opioid prescribing requirement, and no specific live/in-person minimum hours are mandated. The Department of Safety and Professional Services supports CME tracking and audits through CE Broker. These guidelines ensure physicians meet state and federal prescribing education alignments Wisconsin DSPS CE requirements .

---

  • Controlled substance / Opioid prescribing: Physicians must complete at least 2 hours of CME on prescribing opioids/controlled substances within the 30 hours each biennium, unless the physician does not hold a DEA number. Legal Information Institute+1

---

  • DEA or PMP enrollment: Before issuing a prescription for a monitored prescription drug, prescribers must review the patient’s ePDMP record as required by Wis. Stat. § 961.385 and Wis. Admin. Code CSB 4.105 (with listed exceptions). docs.legis.wisconsin.gov+1

I really loved this information. I was hospitalized last year for almost a month and I noticed multiple medical errors (not being hooked up to my IV multiple times, given wrong medication which caused my sodium to be very low, etc.) which lengthened my stay. I can now define those exact errors and better understand what happened to me. I hate that these medical errors are so common and I appreciate how well laid out your breakdown and categorization of them was.
