State requirements for Mississippi Medical Doctors
At least 5 hours every year must cover prescribing controlled substances (for licensees with DEA registration)
Mississippi Medical Doctor Standard Renewal Requirements: Mississippi Medical Doctors must renew their licenses annually between May 1 and June 30. Physicians are required to complete 40 hours of continuing medical education every year, all of which must be AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ or equivalent. Licensees holding a DEA number must include at least 5 hours of CME annually related to controlled substance prescribing. Failure to renew before June 30 results in expiration, and late renewal fees or reinstatement applications are required thereafter. The Mississippi State Board of Medical Licensure administers renewals through the MELS Licensure Gateway
