2 hours related to opioid education (unless you certify you do not hold a valid DEA registration. 12 AAC 40.200(a)(2) ).
Alaska MD — Standard Renewal Requirements: Alaska physician licenses renew every two years, with all licenses expiring December 31 of even-numbered years; practicing on a lapsed or inactive license is prohibited. Physicians must complete 50 CME hours per biennium (average 25 per year), including 2 hours in pain management and opioid use/addiction unless they do not hold a valid DEA registration. Accepted credit includes AMA Category 1 or AOA Category 1 or 2, with several equivalency pathways; physicians attest at renewal and may be audited. See the State Medical Board’s FAQ and 12 AAC 40.200–.220 .

Certification alternative (ABMS/AOA or NCCPA): For physicians, initial certification or recertification by an AMA/AOA-recognized specialty board and a current PRA may be accepted as equivalent CME toward renewal.
