First-time renewal: If you’ve held your Michigan tech license > 1 year but < 2 years at the time of renewal, you need only 10 CE hours (½ of each topic split). If you’ve held it < 12 months, no CE is required this first cycle.

Certification status: You had to pass PTCB, ExCPT, or a Board-approved employer exam to get licensed, but you do not have to keep the national credential active to renew in Michigan. Maintaining the cert is optional unless your employer requires it.

Immunization authority: Michigan law currently does not authorize pharmacy technicians to administer vaccines (only pharmacists and interns may do so). Any COVID-era delegation under the federal PREP Act has sunset at the state level. Therefore no vaccine-specific CE or certification pathway exists for technicians in Michigan. (The Board’s technician rules and FAQ are silent on technician immunizations.)
