Total Hours Required:20 Hours
General Hours:17 General Hours
Required Courses:

• 3 hours in opioid / substance-use / addiction-related education • 2 hours in remote-dispensing-site practice (only if you are employed in a remote-dispensing or tele-pharmacy site)

  • Newly-licensed Arizona pharmacy technicians do not need any CE hours for their very first renewal; simply submit the online renewal application and fee before the November 1 deadline.

  • Arizona uses a “license-birthday” system (A.A.C. R4-23-205): if your license was first issued Nov of an odd year → Oct of the following even year, your renewals fall on odd-numbered years (e.g., 2025); licenses first issued Nov of an even year → Oct of the following odd year renew on even-numbered years (e.g., 2026).

  • To hold and keep an Arizona technician license you must maintain an active national certification (PTCB CPhT or ExCPT). Keep your certificate current and be ready to upload it if the Board requests proof during renewal or audit.

  • Technicians may give vaccines in Arizona only when all of the following are true:

    • You work under the direct supervision of a pharmacist who is certified to immunize.

    • You have completed an ACPE-approved hands-on immunization training program and hold current CPR (BLS) certification.

    • You document the training at the pharmacy and meet the extra 2 hours of immunization CE every renewal cycle.

  • If you practice in a remote-dispensing site, add two tele-pharmacy CE hours (ACPE remote-dispensing content) in addition to the standard 20 hours. The rule does not apply to technicians working from home for a central-fill pharmacy.
