Total Hours Required:20 Hours
General Hours:20 General Hours
Required Courses:None
  • First-time renewal: New registrants must still file the annual renewal, but your CE load is prorated. Log in to your online account to see the exact number of hours (often zero or 10 depending on your initial issue date).

  • Training & certification: Within 12 months of first registration you must finish a Board-approved technician-training program. Holding an active PTCB or ExCPT certificate now satisfies this training mandate, but the Board does not require you to keep that national certification active for future renewals—employers may still require it.

  • Immunization authority (Minn. Stat. § 151.01, subd. 27): A registered technician may administer CDC-recommended vaccines only when all five conditions below are met:

    • Delegation: A supervising pharmacist is on-site and delegates the shot.

    • Hands-on training: The tech completes an ACPE-approved vaccine-administration program listed in Minn. Rules 6800.3850 subp 1h B.

    • CPR: Holds a current basic CPR (BLS) certificate.

    • Extra CE: Logs 2 hours of immunization-related CE as part of each 20-hour CE cycle.

    • Age limits & record rules: Follows the statute’s age minimums (≥ 3 years for flu/COVID; ≥ 6 years for other FDA-approved vaccines) and uses MIIC for assessment/reporting.
