Required Courses:

2 hour on Pharmacy Law
2 hour on Medication Safety
2 hour on Cultural Competency/LGBTQ+ health
At least ten percent (10%) in public-health-priority topics named by the Director every 5 years

First-time renewal: If this is your first renewal, the Board waives all CE (17 DCMR § 9907.2). Just file the online application and fee by 2/28/2027.

Certification & registration pathway: To hold a DC registration you must either:
- Maintain an active national credential (PTCB CPhT or NHA ExCPT), or
- Graduate from a Board-approved technician training program and pass its exam. Whichever route you used initially must remain in force each renewal cycle. See 17 DCMR § 9902.

Immunization authority (COVID-19 & routine vaccines): The Board allows nationally-certified techs to vaccinate only under the PREP Act guidance issued by HHS (Oct 20 2020) and acknowledged by the DC Board of Pharmacy. You must:
- hold an active CPhT credential,
- complete a hands-on ACPE immunization course + current CPR/BLS, and
- work under the direct supervision of a pharmacist immunizer when giving FDA-authorized vaccines to patients aged ≥ 3 years.
