Michigan Pharmacy Technician Standard Renewal Requirements
Pharmacy technicians in Michigan must renew their state license every two years and complete a total of 20 hours of CE, including specific hourly requirements for pain & symptom management, patient safety, and pharmacy law/ethics. At least 5 hours must be live and direct-interaction programs, while the remaining 17 hours may be electives from approved pharmacy topics. Alternatively, passing a board-approved exam (PTCB, NHA, Michigan employer-based) may meet renewal requirements. Visit the official Michigan Board of Pharmacy Licensing Guide for details.
***
First-time renewal: If this is your first renewal after June 1, 2022, you are only required to complete 1 hour of implicit bias training for each year since June 1, 2021. Pharmacy Technician Licensing Guide
***
Certification alternative (e.g., Board-certified pharmacotherapy specialist): Pharmacy technicians may satisfy renewal by passing a proficiency examination from PTCB, NHA, or an approved Michigan employer-based program. Pharmacy Technician Licensing Guide
***
Sterile or non-sterile compounding: Elective hours may include compounding or sterile product preparation, but there is no mandatory compounding requirement. Pharmacy Technician Licensing Guide
***
Human trafficking / abuse recognition: One-time completion of human trafficking training is required before first licensure or renewal; it does not need to be repeated each cycle. Pharmacy Technician Licensing Guide

I appreciate the convenience of the course being online and accessible through my phone and that it directly reports to CEBroker to support mandated education requirements.
I really loved this information. I was hospitalized last year for almost a month and I noticed multiple medical errors (not being hooked up to my IV multiple times, given wrong medication which caused my sodium to be very low, etc.) which lengthened my stay. I can now define those exact errors and better understand what happened to me. I hate that these medical errors are so common and I appreciate how well laid out your breakdown and categorization of them was.
