Washington Physician Assistant Standard Renewal Requirements: Physician Assistants in Washington must renew their licenses every two years on their birth date, completing 100 hours of CME, including at least 40 hours Category 1 CME during the 2-year renewal cycle. New licensees have a one-time requirement to complete 6 hours of suicide assessment and management training . Those authorized to prescribe must complete a one-time 1-hour opioid prescribing CME . Alternatives to CME include maintaining active NCCPA certification or participation in the AAPA continuing competence program. These requirements are overseen by the Washington Medical Commission and the Department of Health Washington Medical Commission Renewal
