State requirements for Mississippi Physician Assistants
at least 5 hours of CME every 2 years related to prescribing controlled substances (PAs authorized to prescribe controlled substances)
Mississippi Physician Assistant Standard Renewal Requirements: Physician Assistants in Mississippi must renew their license biennially by June 30 of even-numbered years. Renewal requires completion of 100 hours of continuing medical education, with 50 hours being Category 1 credits as recognized by ACCME, AAPA, AMA, or AOA. PAs authorized to prescribe controlled substances must include at least 5 hours of CME in controlled substance prescribing every renewal period. Physician Assistants who hold current NCCPA certification may meet the CME requirement by providing proof of certification instead of individual CME documentation. Renewals are managed through the Mississippi State Board of Medical Licensure
