I am always interested in continuing education in the areas of health, wellness, nutrition and mental health. Your course was well written, well organized and helpful in meeting state licensure requirements.
Very well written, easy to digest, time efficient, and straight to the point. Thank you!
I appreciate the convenience of the course being online and accessible through my phone and that it directly reports to CEBroker to support mandated education requirements.
I really loved this information. I was hospitalized last year for almost a month and I noticed multiple medical errors (not being hooked up to my IV multiple times, given wrong medication which caused my sodium to be very low, etc.) which lengthened my stay. I can now define those exact errors and better understand what happened to me. I hate that these medical errors are so common and I appreciate how well laid out your breakdown and categorization of them was.
I am always looking for concise ,thorough, and up to date continuing education, and this course provided exactly what I was looking for. Thank you
Enjoyed this course! It squarely met my license renewal requirement as a physician. It was well-written, and an altogether enjoyable read.
State requirements for Florida Physician Assistants
2 Hours of Medical Errors
2 Hours of Domestic Violence (Required every third biennium – Included in the 100 total hours required)
1 hour HIV (first renewal only)
Florida Physician Assistant Standard Renewal Requirements: Florida PAs renew every two years by January 31 of even-numbered years, completing 100 CME hours (≥50 Cat I) or maintaining current NCCPA certification. Required subjects include 2 hours medical errors each cycle, 2 hours domestic violence every third cycle, 1 hour HIV/AIDS at first renewal, and—if prescribing—10 specialty hours (with 3 hours on safe & effective controlled-substance prescribing). See the Florida Board’s PA pages and Fla. Stat. § 458.347 for full details. (Florida Board of Medicine – PA Renewal; Florida Board – Info for PAs: CME; Fla. Stat. § 458.347)
---
First-time renewal: Complete 2 hours medical errors, 1 hour HIV/AIDS (Cat I), and 97 hours general CME; current NCCPA certification may substitute for the 97 general hours. (Florida Board of Medicine – PA Renewal)
---
Certification alternative (ABMS/AOA or NCCPA): NCCPA certification may be used in lieu of the 100 hours at renewal under statute; the Board notes NCCPA can satisfy the general hours but you must still show completion of medical errors, domestic violence (when due), and any prescribing specialty hours. (Fla. Stat. § 458.347(6)(c); Florida Board – PA Renewal)
---
Controlled substance / Opioid prescribing: PAs with delegated prescribing must complete 10 CME hours in the supervising physician’s specialty each renewal, including 3 hours on safe & effective controlled-substance prescribing from an approved statewide physician association/AAPA/AOA provider. (Fla. Stat. § 458.347(4)(e)4.)
---
DEA or PMP enrollment: Before prescribing a controlled substance to a patient age 16+, prescribers (or designees) must consult Florida’s PDMP (E-FORCSE); if you do not prescribe controlled substances, you are not required to register/consult. (Fla. Stat. § 893.055(8); FLHealthSource PDMP FAQ)
---
Human trafficking / Abuse recognition: One-time 1-hour human-trafficking CE (board-approved) was required by January 1, 2021; it counts toward renewal hours and does not repeat unless the Board later requires. (Fla. Stat. § 456.0341; FLHealthSource – Human Trafficking CE)
