Florida dentists need 30 hours of CE every 2 years and renew by February 28 of even-numbered years. Your next renewal is February 28, 2028. Four of the 30 hours are mandatory topics and the other 26 can be any Board-approved topic (Florida Administrative Code 64B5-12.013). Your first renewal is reduced to the 2-hour prescribing course and the 2-hour HIV/AIDS course. You can complete all 30 hours online and on-demand with the Florida dentist CE package .

Which CE topics are required for Florida dentists?

Every renewal: 2 hours of Prevention of Medical Errors and 2 hours of Safe and Effective Controlled Substance Prescribing . At your first renewal you also need 2 hours of HIV/AIDS . Every third renewal you need 2 hours of Domestic Violence , on top of the 30. Your CPR/BLS certification must be current and cannot be taken fully online. Sedation permit holders add 8 hours of airway management every 4 years, and DEA registrants complete the one-time DEA MATE training .

Yes. Florida tracks dentist CE through CE Broker, and the Florida Department of Health reviews your CE Broker record when you renew. An incomplete record holds the renewal until the missing hours are resolved.
