North Carolina Dentist Standard Renewal Requirements: North Carolina dentists must complete 15 hours of continuing education annually by December 31, all of which can be taken online or via correspondence, so long as a post-test is included. CE must focus on clinical and patient-care topics; a prescribing practices course is mandatory for those prescribing controlled substances , and newly licensed dentists must take a six-hour Professionalism and Ethics course during their first CE year.
