Florida Dentist CE Package

• Florida Dentist Standard Renewal Requirements: Florida dentists must report 30 CE hours to CE Broker and renew by February 28 of even years. Each biennium must include 2 hours on prevention of medical errors and 2 hours on safe and effective prescribing of controlled substances (counts toward the 28 general hours), plus live BLS/CPR certification. A 2-hour domestic violence course is required every third cycle, and a 2-hour HIV/AIDS course applies only to the first renewal. All remaining hours may be chosen from Board-approved clinical or practice-management subjects, and optional credit is available for teaching, publications, volunteer service, or other Board-specified activities. • First-time renewal: Dentists renewing for the first time must complete 2 hours in HIV/AIDS and 2 hours in prescribing controlled substances; other CE requirements are waived for the initial cycle. floridadentistry.gov

• Certification alternative: No alternative to the required hands-on CPR certification is accepted; online-only CPR courses are not accepted. floridadentistry.gov

• Sedation: Dentists with a sedation permit must complete a 4-hour Board-approved course in medical emergencies (including airway management) in lieu of standard CE requirements for that biennium. floridadentistry.gov

• Other CE Options: Up to 6 hours per biennium for pro bono services; up to 6 hours per biennium for clinical exercises; up to 4 hours for attending a Board meeting where disciplinary cases are considered; up to 3 hours per semester/quarter for serving as adjunct or part-time faculty (restrictions apply).
