Florida Pharmacist Renewal Requirements

by | Jun 30, 2021 | Renewal Requirements by State & Profession

Florida Pharmacist renewal requirements are currently a hot topic because pharmacists in Florida are set to renew their licenses by September 30, 2021. With the deadline so close, Florida pharmacists are rushing to find their renewal requirements and meet them on time. With so many courses required by the Florida Board of Pharmacy, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed with continuing education!

Don’t fret! Here is all you need to know about Florida Pharmacist renewal requirements:

When do I renew my license?

The licenses of Florida pharmacists will expire by September 30, 2021. Unfortunately, there are no license renewal deadline extensions that are in effect for Florida pharmacists this year.

What do I need to renew my license?

The Florida Board of Pharmacy only requires three things from registered nurses for their license renewal. These requirements are:

  1. Completed CE requirements, as reported to CE Broker
  2. Completed renewal application
  3. Payment of required fees

All these requirements must be met in order to successfully renew your license. To make sure you receive your renewal notification from the Florida health department, make sure that your current mailing address must be on their file.

If you fail to renew your license by the expiration date, your license will be put on delinquent status. If you fail to clear your requirements before the expiration of the current licensure cycle, the license will become null and void without further notification from the Florida Board of Pharmacy.

Avoid getting a delinquent status on your license by accomplishing all your renewal requirements now! AchieveCE can help.

How much do I need to pay to renew my license?

If you renew your active license before your license expires, you will only need to pay $75 for your license renewal. However, if you renew after your license expiration, you have to pay almost double that amount at $130.

Make sure to renew your license on time to avoid incurring unnecessary fees!

How do I renew my license?

Florida pharmacists can renew their license in 4 easy steps online! Follow these steps to renew your license online:

  1. Go to and click the “Renew a License” button.
  2. Enter your Personal Identifying Information, then click the Login button.
  3. Confirm or update your MQA Services Account email address, then click the “Continue” button.
  4. You will be directed to the Dashboard. Click the “Renew my License” button.

Take note that the “Renew my License” button only shows up 90 days before your license expiration date. If you don’t see the button on your dashboard, please check back at a later date.

How do I pay my renewal fees?

You may renew online if you have a credit or debit card to complete the transaction. If you don’t want to pay online, you can still renew your license online. You just need to print a copy of your application summary and mail it with your check or money order to the following address:

Division of Medical Quality Assurance
P.O. Box 6320
Tallahassee, FL 32314-6320

What are my CE requirements for renewal?

Part of the Florida Pharmacist renewal requirements is the completion of 30 hours of appropriate continuing education every two years. These 30 hours of CPEs include:

  • 26 general hours, which can be ACPE- and Board-approved
  • 10 of the 26 general hours must be live
  • 2 hours on controlled substances, which must be Board-approved
  • 2 hours on medication errors, which must be Board-approved

If you’re renewing your license for the first time, and your renewal is 12 months or more after your initial licensure date, you are required to complete 15 hours, including 2 hours on medication errors, 2 hours on controlled substances, and 1 hour on HIV/AIDS. 5 of the 15 hours must live as well.

If you’re renewing your license for the first time with less than 12 months since your initial licensure date, you’re only required to complete 1 hour on HIV/AIDS, 2 hours on medication errors, and 2 hours on controlled substances.

All requirements can be taken online!
