Standard Renewal Requirements

Every New York pharmacist must complete 45 contact hours of CE per three-year (triennial) registration period, from an ACPE-accredited provider. At least 23 of the 45 hours must be completed through live instruction , and no more than 22 may be self-study. Within the 45 hours:

• All pharmacists must complete 3 hours on medication and prescription error reduction every registration period.

• All pharmacists must complete 3 hours on pharmaceutical compounding every registration period (effective January 1, 2023).

Conditional Renewal Requirements

• Pharmacists who practice collaborative drug therapy management (CDTM) must complete at least 5 hours of live CE in the practice areas related to their CDTM protocols every registration period. This coursework cannot be completed by self-study. Education Law § 6827

First-Time Requirements

• Pharmacists initially licensed must complete the full 45 hours, including the 23 live hours and both mandatory topics, during their first three-year registration period and every period after. NYS Office of the Professions

Verification and Reporting

• New York uses NABP's CPE Monitor. You self-certify that you have met the CE requirement when you renew your triennial registration, and you must retain your certificates of completion in case of a NYSED audit. Keep your address of record current with the Office of the Professions so you receive renewal and audit notices. NYS Office of the Professions
