3.5 hours of controlled substances prescribing CME, including one-time SBIRT training
Utah Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine Standard Renewal Requirements: Doctors of Osteopathic Medicine in Utah must renew their licenses every two years by May 31 of even-numbered years, completing 40 hours of CME every 2 years, with at least 34 hours in AMA PRA Category 1 CME or equivalent. Prescribers of controlled substances must complete 3.5 hours of controlled substances prescribing CME, including one-time SBIRT training, every renewal period. Online suicide prevention training is accepted as CME, and specialty board certification may be used in place of CME credits. These requirements are regulated by Utah Division of Occupational and Professional Licensing (DOPL) Utah DOPL Osteopathic Physician Renewal and Utah state statutes Utah Code 58-67-304 .

Controlled substance / Opioid prescribing: If you hold Utah controlled-substance prescribing authority, you must complete ≥3.5 hours of CE on controlled-substance prescribing each licensing period; an approved SBIRT class taken once may satisfy the 3.5-hour requirement for that period.
