Maine Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine Standard Renewal Requirements: Maine DOs renew licenses biennially and must complete 100 hours of continuing medical education (CME) in the prior two years, with at least 40 hours in osteopathic medical education approved by the Board. Physicians who prescribe controlled substances require 3 hours on opioid medication prescription every two years, counting toward the total. Accepted CME includes AOA Category 1, ACGME, or AMA Category 1 from board-approved sponsors such as associations, colleges, hospitals, or institutes. Board Link
