West Virginia Licensed Practical Nurse Standard Renewal Requirements: West Virginia LPNs must renew their license annually by June 30 and complete 24 contact hours of Board-approved continuing education every two years. At least 7 of those hours must be in required topics: substance abuse , veteran mental health , and end-of-life care (the latter only for first-time renewal). The remaining hours may be in general or elective topics wvrnboard.wv.gov

Certification alternative: No alternative such as national or specialty certification may be used in place of continuing education requirements for West Virginia LPNs.
