South Dakota Licensed Practical Nurse Standard Renewal Requirements: South Dakota Licensed Practical Nurses must renew their licenses every two years on their birthday. The Board does not require any continuing education for LPN renewal; instead, nurses must verify they have completed a minimum of 140 hours of nursing practice in any 12-month period or a total of 480 hours in the past 6 years to maintain active status.
