Oregon Registered Nurse Standard Renewal Requirements: Oregon Registered Nurses must renew their licenses every two years on their birthday. They must attest to completing 400 hours of nursing practice within the last two years to renew without CE. If unable to meet the practice hours requirement, nurses must complete additional continuing education hours based on hours worked in prior years or participate in a Board-approved re-entry program. All nurses must complete a one-time 6-hour pain management course before the first renewal, a 1-hour Oregon Pain Management Commission CE each renewal, and 2 hours of cultural competency CE every renewal. CE must be related to the nurse’s practice area and can be completed through various approved activities ( Oregon Board of Nursing ).
