Tennessee Registered Nurse Standard Renewal Requirements: Tennessee RNs must renew their license every two years in their birth month. Practicing RNs need either 5 hours of continuing education or may choose from a menu of alternative competency activities (two required). RNs who have not practiced during the cycle must complete 10 hours of CE. Full requirements, approved options, and the online renewal portal are detailed on the Tennessee Board of Nursing’s official site .
