• Michigan Registered Nurse Standard Renewal Requirements: Michigan Registered Nurses must renew their license every two years, on a date set individually based on their original license issue date — not a fixed calendar date such as March 31 (Mich. Admin. Code R 338.7001a). Renewal requires 25 contact hours of continuing education approved by the Board. Of these hours, at least 2 must be focused on pain and symptom management . Additionally, nurses are required to complete a one-time human trafficking training and ongoing implicit bias training — 1 hour per year of the license cycle (2 hours for the standard 2-year RN cycle), required at every renewal since the rule took effect June 1, 2022.
