Instead of 15 CE hours, an RN may meet competency by holding a current nationally recognized certification or completing at least one (1) academic credit hour in nursing (grade C or higher) during the cycle.

First-time renewal: If your first renewal period is shorter than 24 months, the Board waives the CE requirement for that initial cycle.

Certification alternative: Maintaining an active national specialty certification or passing one nursing college credit automatically satisfies the CE mandate.
