Renewal Requirements

Next Renewal Date:Every 28th of licensee's birthmonth
Total Hours Required:30 Hours
General Hours:30 General Hours
Required Courses:
  • One-time implicit bias training starting April 1, 2022; this does not count toward the 30-hour total.

  • First-time renewal: New RNs must complete 30 contact hours, or meet the active practice or education exception, and complete the one-time implicit bias training before their first renewal.

  • Certification alternative: No national certification substitutes for CE hours—it may support practice recognition but does not exempt you from meeting renewal requirements.

  • Immunization practice: RNs who administer vaccines are not required to complete immunization-specific CE under Maryland Board rules.
