Opioid Prescribing: If you prescribe opioids, complete 2 hours of CE on CDC opioid guidelines per 3-year cycle.
Abuse Reporting: If you regularly care for children or dependent adults, complete Iowa’s abuse identification and reporting training.
Fluoroscopy Supervision: If you supervise fluoroscopy, complete annual radiological safety education and a one-time course on fluoroscopic principles.
Iowa ARNP Standard Renewal Requirements: Iowa Advanced Practice Registered Nurses must renew every 3 years and maintain current, active national certification; this alone satisfies Iowa’s CE requirement. Additional Iowa-mandated CE applies only if you prescribe opioids, supervise fluoroscopy, or regularly attend/counsel children or dependent adults—specific details and forms are available on the
official Board of Nursing ARNP CE requirements page.

First-time renewal: The first renewal period may vary between 24–36 months, based on initial licensing date; subsequent renewals occur every 3 years.
