2 hours in Prescribing Controlled Substances
South Carolina APRN Standard Renewal Requirements: South Carolina APRNs must renew licenses every two years on April 30 of even-numbered years. APRNs are required to maintain national certification or complete 30 contact hours of continuing education, with 20 hours in pharmacotherapeutics (including 2 in controlled substances ) if they hold prescriptive authority. Alternative renewal paths include academic programs or documented employer competency—full details and renewal eligibility are outlined by the South Carolina Board of Nursing .
