Colorado APRN Standard Renewal Requirements: Colorado Advanced Practice Registered Nurses must renew their license every two years by September 30, which typically coincides with RN license expiration. There are no state-imposed continuing education hours for renewal; however, APRNs must maintain current national certification, which may have its own CE requirements. Those with prescriptive authority must complete 2 hours of substance use prevention every renewal period, and DEA registrants need a one-time 8-hour opioid/substance use disorder training.
