Pharmacology: 5 contact hours annually (Board-approved)
If you have a DEA registration + KASPER/PDMP, 3 of the 5 must cover pain management or addiction disorders
One-time requirements:
3-hour course for Domestic Violence
1.5-hour course for Pediatric Abusive Head Trauma
2 hours total (1 hour general + 1 hour on assessment and intervention) for Suicide Prevention
1.5 hours Implicit bias for all nurses
1-hour course for Alzheimer’s/Dementia

Kentucky APRN Standard Renewal Requirements: Kentucky Advanced Practice Registered Nurses are required to renew their licenses each year between September 15 and October 31. APRNs must complete 14 contact hours of Board-approved continuing education annually, including 5 hours of pharmacology, or maintain national certification. Mandatory one-time trainings in topics such as domestic violence, suicide prevention, pediatric abusive head trauma, and others may be required based on licensure status.
