Required Courses:

  • 2 hours in

    Infection Control

  • CPR certification (initial or recertification) required; up to 10 hours for initial certification or 4 hours for recertification may be counted toward CE

  • Ethics and professionalism, substance abuse, and well-being courses are accepted and may be required for expanded functions

  • 30 hours every 2 years. Up to 10 hours may be completed via home study or online courses.

  • First-time renewal: Dental hygienists first licensed in Nebraska after March 1 of the previous odd-numbered year are exempt from CE for their first renewal.

  • Certification alternative: Current CPR certification at the Healthcare Provider level is required and counts toward CE (up to 10 hours initial, 4 hours recertification per cycle).

  • Sedation: Expanded function or anesthesia permit holders may have additional CE requirements as specified by the Board.
