Arizona dental hygienist CE totals 45 hours of continuing dental education every 3 years, due by the last day of your birth month, on the same cycle as Arizona dentists ( Ariz. Admin. Which CE topics are required for Arizona dental hygienists?

Three topics fall within the 45-hour total: 3 hours from a menu of Ethics , Arizona Dental Jurisprudence, Chemical Dependency , Tobacco Cessation or Risk Management in any combination, 3 hours of Infection Control , and 3 hours of CPR/ACLS/PALS at the healthcare-provider level ( R4-11-1204 ). Hygienists who provide Botox or dermal filler need 12 hours on those procedures each renewal period, counted within the 45 hours ( Board rulemaking notice ). Hygienists entering an Affiliated Practice relationship complete a one-time 12-hour Affiliated Practice package before they start ( R4-11-609 ). Local anesthesia and nitrous oxide require Board-recognized coursework before you administer either, as a one-time step outside the 45-hour cycle.
