shall complete at least 3.5 hours of continuing education in one or more controlled substance prescribing classes, except dentists who shall complete at least two hours, that satisfy the requirements of Subsections At least 60 days prior to the expiration date of a license, DOPL will email a renewal notice to the licensee's email address of record as provided to DOPL by the individual licensee. (Failure to notify DOPL of an address change could prevent a licensee from timely receiving renewal notification and other important correspondence from DOPL.) Credit for
continuing education
shall be recognized as follows:

  • Unlimited hours for continuing education completed in blocks of time of not less than 50 minutes in formally established classroom courses, seminars, lectures, conferences, or training sessions.

  • A maximum of ten hours per two-year period may be recognized for teaching continuing education relevant to dentistry and dental hygiene.

  • A maximum of 15 hours per two-year period may be recognized for continuing education that is provided online or through home study with an examination and a completion certificate.

  • A maximum of three hours per two-year period may be recognized for continuing education in practice and office management.
