Texas Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Standard Renewal Requirements: Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists in Texas must renew their licenses every two years by the last day of their birth month, with a 30-day grace period after expiration. Licensees need to complete 30 clock hours of continuing education per renewal period, with at least 15 hours consisting of core CE through board-approved or university providers, including 6 hours of ethics training (3 hours of which must cover Texas jurisprudence), 3 hours in telehealth or technology-assisted services, and human trafficking prevention training mandated by law. The remaining 15 hours may be elective. Credit for teaching and publishing in relevant topics may be accepted under board rules.
