Tennessee Emergency Medical Technician Standard Renewal Requirements: Tennessee EMTs must renew their licenses every two years according to their birth month and year, with licenses expiring on the last day of the birth month. They must complete 20 hours of Board-approved continuing education every two years, with at least 50% obtained in a classroom (live) setting. Continuing education must be directly related to EMS patient care. Renewals can be submitted online via the Tennessee Licensing and Regulatory System (LARS). Failure to renew on time results in license expiration and may require re-examination for reinstatement
