State requirements for Tennessee Emergency Medical Technicians
10 Live Hours
Tennessee Emergency Medical Technician Standard Renewal Requirements: Tennessee EMTs must renew their licenses every two years according to their birth month and year, with licenses expiring on the last day of the birth month. They must complete 20 hours of Board-approved continuing education every two years, with at least 50% obtained in a classroom (live) setting. Continuing education must be directly related to EMS patient care. Renewals can be submitted online via the Tennessee Licensing and Regulatory System (LARS). Failure to renew on time results in license expiration and may require re-examination for reinstatement https://www.tn.gov/health/health-program-areas/health-professional-boards/ems-board/ems-board/licensure.html .
---
Certification alternative/equivalency: Tennessee does not follow the NREMT National Continued Competency Program (NCCP) model but renewals require meeting state CE requirements. https://www.tn.gov/health/health-program-areas/health-professional-boards/ems-board/ems-board/licensure.html
---
CPR/BLS/ACLS/PALS: CPR certification at the appropriate level is required for renewal. https://www.tn.gov/health/health-program-areas/health-professional-boards/ems-board/ems-board/licensure.html
---
Delivery method caps & definitions: At least 50% of CE hours must be earned in a classroom (live) setting; other hours may be completed online or via other approved methods.
---
Provider/course approvals: CE must be approved by the EMS Board or recognized accreditors such as CAPCE. https://www.tn.gov/health/health-program-areas/health-professional-boards/ems-board/ems-board/licensure.html
---
Documentation & audit: Licensees must maintain CE records and certificates for audit purposes; the Board uses CE Broker to track compliance. https://www.tn.gov/health/health-program-areas/health-professional-boards/ems-board/ems-board/licensure.html
---
Renewal logistics: Renewal may be done online through LARS; late renewal may require re-examination.
---
Out-of-state / multi-license credit: Tennessee offers reciprocity for EMS licenses if national certification or equivalent state certification is held and application is approved.

I am always interested in continuing education in the areas of health, wellness, nutrition and mental health. Your course was well written, well organized and helpful in meeting state licensure requirements.
Very well written, easy to digest, time efficient, and straight to the point. Thank you!
I appreciate the convenience of the course being online and accessible through my phone and that it directly reports to CEBroker to support mandated education requirements.
I really loved this information. I was hospitalized last year for almost a month and I noticed multiple medical errors (not being hooked up to my IV multiple times, given wrong medication which caused my sodium to be very low, etc.) which lengthened my stay. I can now define those exact errors and better understand what happened to me. I hate that these medical errors are so common and I appreciate how well laid out your breakdown and categorization of them was.
I am always looking for concise ,thorough, and up to date continuing education, and this course provided exactly what I was looking for. Thank you
Enjoyed this course! It squarely met my license renewal requirement as a physician. It was well-written, and an altogether enjoyable read.
