Kentucky Emergency Medical Technician Standard Renewal Requirements: Kentucky EMT licensees must renew their certification every two years by the last day of their birth month. To renew, EMTs must complete 40 hours of continuing education, including mandatory trainings on HIV/AIDS, Pediatric Abusive Head Trauma, and Awareness of Sexual Violence, with approved courses provided online by the Kentucky Board of EMS. There is no specified minimum for live or in-person CE hours, and general hours are not differentiated. Detailed renewal requirements are outlined by the Kentucky Board of Emergency Medical Services
