• District of Columbia Dental Assistant Standard Renewal Requirements: DC dental assistants must complete 10 Board-approved CE hours every two years and renew their registration by 31 December of each odd year. The curriculum must include 2 hrs BLS, 2 hrs Infection Control , 1 hr Ethics , 2 hrs Cultural-Competency or LGBTQ+ clinical training , and at least 1 hr in DC-designated public-health-priority topics. Because no more than 5 hours may be taken via internet courses, at least five hours must be earned through live or interactive learning. Teaching, publishing, and volunteer service can supply elective credit within the Board’s limits. DC Health

• Renewal Cycle / Next Deadline:

  • Registrations issued before 16 June 2024 expire 12 a.m. on 31 Dec of every odd-numbered year (next fixed deadline ≈ 31 Dec 2025).

  • Registrations issued on/after 16 June 2024 — and, for all assistants, all renewals filed from Sept 2024 forward — expire on the last day of the holder’s birth-month every two years. DC Health DC Health

• Sedation: Dental assistants may not administer local anesthesia or nitrous oxide; sedation duties remain with the supervising dentist (§ 9004.6(i)–(j)); therefore no sedation-specific CE applies. DC Health
