Crew Resource Management for EMS Professionals

At the conclusion of this activity, participants will be able to:

2. Recall the guiding principles of crew resource management.

4. Identify ways EMS personal can practice situational awareness.

5. Define communication.

6. Identify key communication models that EMS personnel can use as part of crew resource management.

7. Describe how crew resource management impacts the decision-making process.

8. Describe the roles and competencies of leaders and followers under the crew resource management model.

9. Describe the principles of workload/task management under the crew resource management model.

10. Describe how post-incident analysis can be used to improve team performance.

This course provides an overview of how crew resource management strategies can help reduce the number and impact of human errors by EMS teams and allow EMS teams to use all of the resources at their disposal as effectively and efficiently as possible. This course fulfills Florida’s continuing education requirements for EMS providers as well as the certification requirements for the National Registry Emergency Medical Technicians. Participants can complete this course at their own pace from the convenience of their computer or mobile device.
