Oregon Registered Nurse

Next Renewal Date:

The day before the nurse’s birthday in even-numbered years for even-numbered years, and in odd-numbered years for nurses born in odd-numbered years.

Required Courses:

  • 1 hour must be the Oregon Pain Management Commission module (one-time requirement provided by the Oregon Pain Management Commission (OPMC))
  • 6 hours of Pain Management and/or Treatment of the Terminally Ill and Dying Patients (one-time requirement)

Oregon Licensed Practical Nurse

Total Hours Required:

7 hours

The day before the nurse’s birthday in even-numbered years for even-numbered years, and in odd-numbered years for nurses born in odd-numbered years.

Required Courses:

  • 1 hour must be the Oregon Pain Management Commission module (one-time requirement provided by the Oregon Pain Management Commission (OPMC))
  • 6 hours of Pain Management and/or Treatment of the Terminally Ill and Dying Patients (one-time requirement)

Oregon Advanced Practice Registered Nurse

Total Hours Required:

45 contact hours – for APRNs with prescriptive authority

Next Renewal Date:

The day before the nurse’s birthday in even-numbered years for even-numbered years, and in odd-numbered years for nurses born in odd-numbered years.

Required Courses:

  • 15 hours in Pharmacotherapeutic content – for APRNs with prescriptive authority
  • 1 hour must be the Oregon Pain Management Commission module (one-time requirement provided by the Oregon Pain Management Commission (OPMC))
  • 6 hours of Pain Management and/or Treatment of the Terminally Ill and Dying Patients (one-time requirement)
  • NPs interested in prescribing buprenorphine will need to complete the required 24 hours of approved training. The AANP website gives access to the needed training modules. Training counts for CE license renewal.
