5 hours in Pharmacotherapeutics each cycle (APRNs with prescriptive authority)

Texas APRN Standard Renewal Requirements: Texas APRNs must renew every two years, by the end of their birth month, completing 20 hours of board-approved CE in their specialty or maintaining national certification. APRNs with prescriptive authority need 5 hours in pharmacotherapeutics each renewal, and those prescribing opioids must complete 2 hours each year on pain management . Additional mandatory courses apply for controlled substances , jurisprudence , human trafficking , and forensic evidence for some advanced practice nurses ( Texas Board of Nursing ; 22 Tex. Admin. Code § 216.3 ).
