• Texas Registered Respiratory Therapist Standard Renewal Requirements: Renew biennially with expiration on May 31 or November 30, and must complete 24 contact hours each cycle, including 12 “traditional” hours and 2 hours in ethics; a human trafficking prevention course approved by HHSC is required and may count toward ethics. All remaining hours may be non-traditional and can include specified exams or academic work within the board’s limits. See the Texas Medical Board’s official pages for renewal and CE details. • Exemptions & waivers: May grant CE exemptions for catastrophic illness, military service >1 year outside the U.S., residence >1 year outside the U.S., or other good cause—requests must be submitted in writing at least 30 days prior to license expiration, and may not exceed one registration period (renewable upon approval).
