Standard Renewal Requirements
Every California pharmacist must complete 30 hours of continuing education in the 24 months preceding renewal, from a Board-recognized provider, to satisfy California pharmacist license renewal. California sets no live-instruction minimum, so all 30 hours may be completed through home study or online courses with an accredited package like California Pharmacy CE Package . Within the 30 hours, all California pharmacists must complete 2 hours on California pharmacy law and ethics CE through a Board-provided course, and 1 hour on c ultural competency CE , each renewal period.

Conditional Renewal Requirements
Advanced Practice Pharmacists must complete 10 additional hours of CE per 2-year renewal period, on top of the standard 30, for a 40-hour total. Cal. Bus. & Prof. Code § 4234

California does not use CPE Monitor to verify pharmacist CE officially. Pharmacists self-attest and must retain their certificates of completion for 4 years; the Board conducts random audits. Cal. Code Regs. tit. 16, § 1732.5 ; California State Board of Pharmacy CE FAQ
