Course description
Preventing medical errors in behavioral-health care requires more than recognizing definitions. Mental-health clinicians must identify safety events and near misses, recognize behavioral-health-specific risks, respond within scope, communicate and document concerns, follow organizational and jurisdictional reporting requirements, and participate in systems-based learning after an event. This activity addresses current gaps in event classification, suicide-safety processes, medication-information management, diagnostic safety, patient identification, communication, reporting, and event analysis. After completing the course, licensed mental-health clinicians will be better prepared to recognize patient-safety risks, select scope-appropriate responses, and support corrective actions that reduce recurrence.
