Additional information
  • APRNs must complete 400 nursing practice hours in the prior two years or meet CE/practice requirements for RN plus additional training. As APRNs maintain RN licensure, they must also meet RN-related CE/practice standards.

  • First-time renewal: New APRNs are granted a 12-month grace period post-initial issuance during which no CE or practice hours are required; upon the first biennial renewal, they must complete the required practice hours and topic CE.

  • Certification alternative: APRNs must hold current national certification, which satisfies licensure requirements and supports clinical eligibility.

  • Immunization practice: APRNs may administer immunizations as part of their scope; the Board does not require immunization-specific continuing education.

I really loved this information. I was hospitalized last year for almost a month and I noticed multiple medical errors (not being hooked up to my IV multiple times, given wrong medication which caused my sodium to be very low, etc.) which lengthened my stay. I can now define those exact errors and better understand what happened to me. I hate that these medical errors are so common and I appreciate how well laid out your breakdown and categorization of them was.
