Nevada Licensed Practical Nurse Standard Renewal Requirements: Nevada LPNs must complete 30 hours of Board-approved continuing education every two years, timed to their birthday. Within these hours, LPNs must include 4 hours of cultural competency and DEI training per cycle, a one-time 4-hour bioterrorism course, and 2 hours per cycle on issues of stigma, discrimination, and bias related to HIV , as set forth by the Nevada State Board of Nursing. New graduates are exempt from the 30-hour CE requirement for their first renewal but must still complete the bioterrorism and cultural competency requirements ( Nevada State Board of Nursing ).

First-time renewal: LPNs who graduated within two years of their first renewal are exempt from the 30 required CE hours but must still complete a one-time 4-hour bioterrorism course and the 4-hour cultural competency course ( Nevada State Board of Nursing ).

Certification alternative: No certification can substitute for the required CE hours; all LPNs must fulfill the full Board-mandated requirements each cycle.

Other Certifications that nurses hold that needs to be renewed: LPNs must maintain any additional specialty or IV certifications as required by their employer, independent of Board renewal requirements.
