Nevada APRN Standard Renewal Requirements: Nevada APRNs renew their licenses every two years on their birthday and must complete a total of 45 contact hours (at least 15 must be directly related to the APRN’s specialty/practice area) of continuing education, which includes specific requirements in cultural competency, substance abuse , suicide prevention , and HIV stigma/bias . Fifteen CE hours must focus on the APRN’s specialty area, and a one-time bioterrorism course is required. Additional options and documentation requirements, such as precepting and maintaining a professional portfolio, are outlined by the Nevada State Board of Nursing .

First-time renewal: New APRN graduates are exempt from the 45-hour CE requirement for their first renewal, but must still complete the one-time bioterrorism and required cultural competency courses ( Nevada State Board of Nursing ).
