Florida Emergency Medical Technician Standard Renewal Requirements: Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) in Florida must renew their certification every two years by May 31, participating in a Department of Health-approved 30-hour refresher program or passing a challenge exam. Required continuing education includes pediatric emergency topics for paramedics and prevention of medical errors. Certificates that lapse become involuntary inactive and may be reactivated with additional requirements, including examinations and fees. Renewal fees vary based on timing and certificate status.
