Additional information

Alaska Pharmacy Technician Standard Renewal Requirements- Alaska pharmacy technicians must complete 10 contact hours of board-approved continuing education every two years, with licenses expiring June 30 of even-numbered years. Technicians obtaining initial national certification from the PTCB may use that certification to fulfill renewal CE for that cycle. Those providing immunizations must include one hour of ACPE-approved immunization CE if nationally certified. Full details and eligible CE providers are listed in Alaska state regulation.

---

First-time renewal: Instead of full CE, first renewal applicants may fulfill requirements by attesting that they have read Alaska's pharmacy statutes and regulations and submitting an affidavit from their pharmacist-in-charge confirming completion of technician training as required by regulation. ( statute 12 AAC 52.325(c) )

---

Certification alternative: Pharmacy technicians may use initial national certification (such as PTCB) acquired during the license period to fulfill the entire CE requirement for that renewal cycle. ( statute 12 AAC 52.325(a)(2) )

---

Immunization practice & CPR: If administering vaccines or emergency medication under a special authorization, at least 1 of the required CE hours must be ACPE-approved on immunizations/vaccines . Only nationally certified pharmacy technicians may perform these functions. Up to 1 CE hour in CPR is allowed per cycle. ( statute 12 AAC 52.325(e) )

I really loved this information. I was hospitalized last year for almost a month and I noticed multiple medical errors (not being hooked up to my IV multiple times, given wrong medication which caused my sodium to be very low, etc.) which lengthened my stay. I can now define those exact errors and better understand what happened to me. I hate that these medical errors are so common and I appreciate how well laid out your breakdown and categorization of them was.
