1 hour on Category A: directly related to the Ohio Nurse Practice Act and the administrative rules of the Ohio Board of Nursing. To qualify as Category A, the CE must be approved by an Ohio Board of Nursing (OBN) approver.
Ohio Registered Nurse Standard Renewal Requirements: Ohio RNs must renew their license every two years, with the renewal window closing October 31 of odd-numbered years. To qualify, RNs must complete 24 contact hours of continuing education, which must include at least 1 hour on the Ohio Nurse Practice Act ("Category A"), unless it is their first renewal after passing the NCLEX or their first year in Ohio after reciprocity, in which case reduced or exempt requirements apply.
